Stainless steel or carbon steel pétanque boules: which material should you choose?

Choosing the right material is an important step in finding the competition pétanque boules that suit you best. At Obut, sport / competition boules are available in stainless steel or carbon steel, two materials with different characteristics and maintenance requirements.

Stainless steel pétanque boules are particularly appreciated for their corrosion resistance and ease of maintenance. They allow you to enjoy your set of three boules for years to come while minimising concerns about oxidation.

Carbon steel pétanque boules require more care to prevent rust from forming. Their finish and how it changes over time as you play can also influence the way they feel in your hand.

Beyond the material, other factors come into play when choosing your boules: diameter, weight, hardness and grooves. A stainless steel boule isn't necessarily harder than a carbon steel one: these characteristics depend on the model you choose.
